Keeping Food Fresh
Storing dry foods in airtight containers will help them stay fresh longer, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Flour should last for one year; granulated sugar, two years; pasta, one year; cold cereal, one year; and dried beans, peas and lentils, one year.
